Welcome, Orchard HAP Group!
This is our new BedsLife Traditional Orchards Habitat Action Plan worksite. Thanks very much for agreeing to help us out on this! First, I do know that the picture above is not of an English apple. In fact, it's from an Ontario orchard so while I picked it (no pun intended) because I liked the colours - and the fact that it was free - it's also a little reminder of home for me. I promise we'll use proper local photos in the finished product! Anyway, this site will be our work space for preparing the HAP. I hope this proves much easier for you than driving around Anglia for meetings and whatnot. I'll post the latest notes and document versions here, but if you think a discussion forum or any other fancy features would be useful, please let me know. I'm still a novice web-builder but I'm learning fast!
Getting back on track! After a rather lengthy hiatus I'm trying to wrestle this plan back into action. I've taken your comments and suggestions on the targets and put together some proposed actions. Each target has at least one action, and every action is related to one of the targets. This will ensure that there are no 'loose ends'. I was aiming to have a draft action plan ready by last Apple Day. Having missed that deadline I'm determined to have one for this year's celebration. The suggested actions are in a spreadsheet which you can access here. This format shows both the targets and actions, so you can see how they relate to one another. There is also a column for comments; feel free to add your thoughts. I'd like to have the draft actions sorted by the beginning of May, so if you could have any comments to me by Wednesday April 30 it would be appreciated. I will also start drafting some supporting text, which I will post in the next couple of months. I'd like to have a first draft of the plan to the biodiversity forum for their June 25 meeting, with a final version ready by September. Many thanks for your continued input and advice, everybody!
